SPROTT VANCOUVER NATURAL RESOURCE SYMPOSIUM 2014 Vancouver, Canada | July 22-25, 2014 | Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
“You’ve experienced the pain – let’s prepare for the gain.”
~ Rick Rule, Chairman, Sprott U.S. Holdings Inc.
After three long years, are natural resources finally entering a period of recovery?
Many of the sector’s top experts believe that the next year and a half may prove to be one of the most opportune times in history to invest in this sector.
Join us this July 22-25 as they share their expertise and help you prepare to take advantage of this recovery.
Just one short decade ago, the case for commodities and precious metals was front-page news:
The world population was growing, developing nations were getting richer and buying raw materials and energy to improve their standards of living.
Governments were printing currency.
A wave of new retirees leaving the workforce were putting pressure on the dollar – providing hard assets like precious metals and commodities a welcome opportunity to soar.
We were at the top of a commodities bull market, and life was good.
We all know what happened next.
From 2011 to 2013, the natural resource sector was hit hard.
Gold dropped 30%, mining stocks fell by over 50%, and the bull market came to an abrupt halt.
I’m willing to bet many of you may still be feeling the pang of this pullback today.
But, I have good news!
You see, while natural resource markets tend to be highly volatile, they have also proven to be extremely cyclical.
Now that you’ve experienced the pain – let’s prepare for the gain.
Allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Rick Rule and I am the Chairman of Sprott U.S. Holdings Inc.
I have dedicated my entire adult life to many aspects of natural resource securities investing. I have a worldwide network of contacts in the natural resource and finance worlds.
As director, president, and CEO of Sprott U.S. Holdings Inc., I lead a highly skilled team of earth science and finance professionals, who enjoy a worldwide reputation for resource investment management.
My experience has made me one of the top “go-to-guys” in the resource industry.
And if you were to ask me about the current state of the resource sector, I would tell you that the bear market we have been through over the past few years is analogous to a SALE.
I believe investing in natural resources and precious metals is attractive today because the sector is so much cheaper than it was three years ago.
Right now, for example, many of my favorite stocks are trading at a 90% discount to their 2011 prices.
Our industry experts believe that this “sale” is providing investors with a huge opportunity, and in this imminent resource bull market, a carefully selected portfolio might see gains that could more than compensate for the losses during the pullback.
This is what the Sprott Vancouver Natural Resource Symposium 2014 is all about.
We will show you how to take full advantage of our current market and where to invest in resource stocks and commodities in the coming months.
It is, indeed, a truly wonderful time to be a resource investor.
Today, I’d like to personally invite you to join me for this event.
An Inside Look at What You Can Expect
This is your chance to discuss and discover unique investment ideas with some of the world’s smartest minds in finance, investment research, economics, and natural resources. That includes:
Why Wall Street Daily’s Director of Energy and Resources Karim Rahemtulla believes there is a huge opportunity at hand for natural gas and how the critical mass developing in demand could send prices much higher, much sooner than most expect.
The reasons Ivanhoe Mines’ Executive Chairman Robert Friedland believes that the transformational phenomenon of urbanization already impacting much of the global population, combined with unprecedented levels of air pollution being experienced in some of the world’s megacities, presents a huge challenge for governments and, at the same time, significant investment opportunities in mining companies that have the established resources to focus on development in the era of “green-metals” – in particular the production of copper and platinum-group metals.
Why the Chairman of the Casey Group, Doug Casey believes there is success for those who invest when blood is on the streets. Most investors lose money in the resource sector and a few repeatedly make millions and more. What separates success from failure is the willingness to invest with the right people when nobody else wants to touch a sector.
Insight on the Due Diligence Drilling on the –TSX – in Search of High Grade Speculations according to Chief Metal and Mining Strategist of Casey Research Louis James – plus how to pick the most leveraged speculations on the market today, before they take off.
Why Casey Research’s Chief Energy Investment Strategist Marin Katusa says uranium is a truly contrarian energy play with potential for outsized returns, and why the current low prices of uranium are setting the stage for an explosive recovery, and which investments will benefit most from it. Marin also believes if you could take only one step to internationalize your finances, storing some gold in another country would be it. He will give us practical solutions for international gold storage. Plus, he will explain the pitfalls to avoid when storing overseas, and how to dollar cost average every month and store overseas.
The reason Casey Research’s Senior Precious Metals Analysts say if you could take only one step to internationalize your finances, storing some gold in another country would be it. He will give us practical solutions for international gold storage. Plus, he will explain the pitfalls to avoid when storing overseas, and how to dollar cost average every month and store overseas.
The new resource plays Agora Financial’s Oil and Energy expert Byron King has identified in power generation and management, electrical storage, electronics, magnets, optics and more being created by the world’s evolving technology.
Why Adrian Day Asset Management’s Chairman and CEO Adrian Day believes that concerns about the resource market are overdone and the next leg up will be even more powerful than the last because of the shortage of new projects in many resources in the years ahead – plus the lower-risk ways he’s identified to participate in the coming boom.
The natural resource stocks providing investors with the greatest potential for high yields, according to The Oxford Club’s Chief Income Strategist and dividend expert Marc Lichtenfeld.
Why Kim Iskyan says that the perfect time to invest is when sentiment is terrible, valuations are rock bottom, and catalysts for an improvement are from terrible to a-bit-better-than-terrible – plus his thoughts on markets he believes are positioned to explode.
And much more!
PLUS: As an added bonus, we have also worked with Casey Research to provide you with an exclusive opportunity to participate in three exciting MainStage Casey Research Panels – featuring some of the best names in the resource industry – “Crossfire style.”
Casey Research XL Panel: Doug Casey, Louis James & Marin Katusa interview the serially successful explorers from the Casey Research Explorers League Honorees – a crossfire discussion with some of the world’s most respected explorers. Each of these “hall of famers” have accomplished at least three major economical discoveries and made billions for their shareholders.
Casey Research NexTen Panel: Doug Casey, Marin Katusa & Louis James interview the rising stars of the resource sector.
A crossfire discussion with the sector’s Top 10 under 40 years of age. These are the younger generation of entrepreneurs who have already demonstrated that they have what it takes to succeed.
A look inside Casey's Resource Funds: Fund Managers Marin Katusa, Olivier Garret and fund advisor Doug Casey meet with CEOs of portfolio companies to discuss due diligence, financings, and strategies. This is a rare opportunity to learn how professionals invest in the resource sector and what they look for in companies.
Now, let me introduce you to our team of renowned speakers and sponsors – including best-selling authors, industry experts, and top-rated speakers – that you can expect to hear from at this year’s Symposium.

William Bonner* President and Founder, Agora Inc.
Over 30 years ago, Bill founded Agora Inc. What began as a small publishing firm in D.C. in 1979, is now a “mini-multinational,” organization with publishing offices in eight countries on six continents.
Alongside Addison Wiggin, Bill has written two New York Times best-selling books, Financial Reckoning Day and Empire of Debt. Second editions of both books were re-released in 2009. Both works, which warned of the dangerous economic trends, have been critically acclaimed and internationally distributed. He coauthored his third New York Times best-selling book, Mobs, Messiahs, and Markets, which offers concrete advice on how to avoid the public spectacle of modern finance. Bill has been a decade-long daily contributor and the driving force behind The Daily Reckoning, a free, daily e-letter that weaves information about the financial and political worlds, investing, and everyday life into an educational and entertaining format.
*Although Bill will be unable to join us in Vancouver, he has prepared a special video presentation for our Sprott Vancouver Natural Resource Symposium 2014 focusing on the current state of the economy, gold and more.
Doug Casey Chairman, Casey Research
Doug Casey is a highly respected author, publisher and professional investor who literally wrote the book on profiting from periods of economic turmoil. That book, Crisis Investing, spent multiple weeks as #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and became the best-selling financial book of 1980 with 438,640 copies sold. Soon after, Doug broke that record with his next book, Strategic Investing, by receiving the largest advance ever paid for a financial book at the time.
For over 28 years, Doug has written newsletters and alert services for sophisticated investors and has served as a trustee on the Board of Governors of Washington College and Northwood University. In addition, he has been a director and advisor to nine different financial corporations.
He is widely respected as one of the preeminent authorities on “rational speculation,” especially in the high-potential natural resource sector, making him a perfect fit for this year’s Symposium.
Jeff Clark Senior Precious Metals Analyst, Casey Research
The son of an award winning gold panner, Jeff helps work his family’s placer claims in California, Nevada, and Arizona. Gold is never far from his mind or his heart.
While working as a psychological counselor, Jeff invested in the IPO of Snapple, made a bundle, and discovered how very profitable speculating can be. Investing in precious metals and mining became the most natural thing in the world for him.
Making money in the precious metals industry – both for himself and his subscribers – is what drives Jeff. He is constantly researching companies to recommend, analyzing the big trends in metals, and looking for safe and profitable ways to capitalize on the gold and silver bull market. He puts his money where his mouth is and will reveal what he’s looking at next this July in Vancouver.
Eric Coffin Editor, Hard Rock Analyst
Eric Coffin is the editor of Hard Rock Analyst, a newsletter that looks for resource companies with the potential to at least double over one year based on asset or reserve growth through development of metals deposits for production, or take over by larger companies.
Eric was born in a mining town and raised by a mining executive. Prior to starting the Hard Rock Analyst newsletter in 1995, Eric and his late brother David ran an exploration consulting firm. This background of real practical experience enables Eric to spot winners early and avoid some of the losers. His broad experience and hard work helped to generate an average gain for the nearly 100 companies tracked in the 2003-2013 period, including over 20 that were taken over by large companies.
We look forward to hearing where he’s looking next at our Sprott Vancouver Natural Resource Symposium 2014.
Brent Cook Independent Exploration Analyst
Brent Cook is an economic geologist who has been involved in the minerals exploration and mining business for 34 years. During this time he has evaluated and valued grassroots through feasibility stage projects involving nearly all deposit types in over 60 countries. In 1997, he got tired of promoters making all the money on questionable properties while he was left standing soaking wet in the jungle, and joined Rick Rule at Global Resource Investments. He was principal mining analyst at Global until going independent again in 2002. Since then he has been an independent analyst and advisor to several investment funds and high net worth individuals. His letter, Exploration Insights covers what he is buying, selling and avoiding in the junior mining sector.
Adrian Day Chairman and CEO, Adrian Day Asset Management
Adrian Day, London born and a graduate of the London School of Economics, heads the eponymous money management firm Adrian Day Asset Management. There, he manages discretionary accounts in both global and resource areas.
Adrian is also the sub-adviser to the new EuroPacific Gold Fund. His latest book is Investing in Resources: How to Profit from the Outsized Potential and Avoid the Risks. He will be speaking on this very topic at this year’s Symposium.
Robert Friedland Founder and Executive Chairman, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd.
A founder of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd., Robert Friedland is an international financier who has been associated with international resource and technology ventures for more than 25 years. He also is Chairman and President of Ivanhoe Capital, his family’s private, Singapore-based company that specializes in venture capital and project financing, and founder of Turquoise Hill Resources (formerly Ivanhoe Mines), a Canadian company with extensive operating, development and exploration interests in the Asia Pacific region.
Robert was named the “2006 Mining Person of the Year” by Canada’s Northern Miner, a leading industry publication, for his coup in gaining global mining leader Rio Tinto as a partner for Ivanhoe Mines in Mongolia. The publication described Robert as “a dynamic force for a quarter-century in the minerals industry through a host of private and public-company vehicles.” We describe him as the perfect addition to this year’s speaker lineup.
Eric Fry Master of Ceremonies Editor and Co-Founder, Free Market Café
Eric Fry writes for The Oxford Club’s Free Market Café newsletter and was a professional portfolio manager for more than 10 years. Following his successes in professional money management, Eric joined the publishing operations of James Grant, editor of the prestigious Grant’s Interest Rate Observer.
Subsequently, Eric joined Agora, Inc., working alongside Bill Bonner for more than a decade as the executive director of the Daily Reckoning. He is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and currently lives in Laguna Beach. His years of in-depth market research, multisector understanding and wry sense of humor make this flip-flop wearing Californian the perfect choice to emcee this premier event.

Kim Iskyan Editor, S&A Global Contrarian
Kim Iskyan is the editor of the S&A Global Contrarian, an investment advisory that focuses on out-of-favor global markets that offer the potential for huge returns. Before joining Stansberry & Associates in 2013, Kim spent more than 20 years as a finance professional in emerging and frontier markets. He spent nine years in Moscow as a sell-side research analyst and deputy head of research for Renaissance Capital, a global emerging markets investment bank, and two Russian investment banks.
During his time in Moscow, Kim managed a hedge fund focused on opportunities in the markets of the former Soviet Union. On another front, he worked for a global asset management firm in Dublin, Ireland. Most recently, he consulted for a securities research outsourcing firm in Colombo, Sri Lanka, for two years. Finally, Kim also worked for a global political risk consulting firm in Washington, D.C., where he lives now.
Louis James Chief Metal and Mining Investment Strategist, Casey Research
Louis James’ background in physics, economics, and technical writing prepared him well for his role as senior editor of the International Speculator and Casey Investment Alert.
Whether it’s days of back-to-back meetings with mining company executives in Vancouver, pounding on rocks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, examining drill core in Argentina, or eating food with names he can’t pronounce with local miners in China, Louis is constantly looking for the next double-your-money winner.
He evaluates dozens of companies every month, conducts due diligence of only the best, and then compares notes with Doug Casey to bring only those most likely to provide rapid high returns to his subscribers’ attention.
Marin Katusa Chief Energy Investment Strategist, Casey Research
Marin Katusa, an accomplished investment analyst, is the senior editor of Casey Energy Dividends, Casey Energy Confidential, and Casey Energy Report. He left a successful teaching career to pursue analyzing and investing in junior resource companies. In addition, he is a regular commentator on BNN and a member of the Vancouver Angel Forum where he and his colleagues evaluate early seed investment opportunities.

Access to Over 40 Sponsors: If you’re really looking for intimate deals, the companies you’ll find sponsoring booths at the Symposium will be just your thing. Your Symposium ticket includes full access to talk to each and every one of our sponsors.
Welcome Cocktail Reception: This is the event you’ll be talking about for days … weeks … months … maybe even years. It’s your opportunity to mingle with some of the world’s top investment and economic experts, financial writers and successful individual investors. Enjoy a drink on us and get to know your fellow attendees as well as your Symposium hosts.
Daily Continental Breakfast: With the fast-paced lineup, you’ll need a healthy start to fuel your day. That’s why we provide you with breakfast, each day.
Complimentary Coffee and Snack Breaks: We plan to throw a lot of information your way each day. But, don’t worry. We’ve made sure to balance out all the learning with the breaks you need to refresh. This is a great time to chat with some new friends or get to know our Sponsors.
A Special Invitation to Join Us on a Tour of The Britannia Mine Museum*: We’ve arranged for a small group of our attendees to enjoy a wonderful field trip to The Britannia Mine Museum, with the option of adding on a Gondola tour. This is an ideal opportunity to get you in the right state-of-mind for the Symposium. (*Additional Costs)
Naturally, it’s hard to put a price on such an invaluable event.
We have spent hours crunching the numbers to make sure those who are truly serious about attending this Symposium can do so.
And I think you’ll be pleased with what we’ve come up with …
Until May 14, you can register to attend our Sprott Vancouver Natural Resource Symposium 2014 for only $599. That includes our $100 early-bird discount.
After that – and as we announce more details and finalize our speaker lineup – the cost will go up to $699.
Considering the meals, the open bars, the planned entertainment, the welcome reception, and frankly, the fact that it costs us a small fortune to sign some of our speakers, I think you’ll agree that this is quite a fair price.
Plus, if you’re an elite Member with one of our partnering organizations, you’ll be eligible for an even greater discount.
